Welcome to GTP’s production of

STREETCAR

NAMED

DESIRE

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

What if Streetcar was a psychosexual horror movie set in the 1970’s? The World War II veterans of the original now fought in Vietnam. Blanche is a product of the early ‘60s and Stella has the option of a legal abortion.

What makes a monster? Why do we return to people who hurt us? How does one get past the past? These are some of the secret questions of the horror genre and the explicit ones asked of the audience in Streetcar. There are no answers given, only the space to examine our own lives in the light of Tennessee’s deeply flawed characters caught in a complex web of shame and desire.
